VO: If that doesn't get your sweet tooth in gear nothing will

Jane: Sweet and Saucy is the name of our business. We make gourmet caramel and chocolate sauces. And then we also have a line of mustard because so many people used to walk up to our caramel sauce and go is this mustard?

VO: Meet Jane and Erin, the mother-daughter team behind Sweet and Saucy.

Jane: We've been doing this for 20 years next month. It's a family operation.

VO: With so many options to choose from what's their favorite.

Erin: It's our cinnamon caramel. It's one of our original flavors. It's very simple but it tastes like a liquid cinnamon roll and it's just warm and delicious and gooey and all those things that you love when you think about caramel sauce. I also love our espresso fudge. I just think dark chocolate and coffee are such a great pairing that it goes with so many different things. As first things you wouldn't expect we're based in New Mexico so we do have a couple of chili flavors. We have a spicy Chipotle chili fudge that has a pretty good kick to it. We have a spicy mango caramel. We have a Mexican hot chocolate and we have a hatch green chili caramel because it is the law that in New Mexico you have to have a green chili product.

VO: And at events. They often get asked the same question.

Jane: What do you do with this but we've gotten pretty good at, you know, telling people what to do with it. That's very simple. Obviously. Those are people that don't cook very much, don't have much experience in the kitchen and we try to make simple things that anybody anybody could make so we give them a little handout of recipes and things to do with the sauce and ways to take care of it like refrigerating it after it's open which we get all the time those questions. Our maple bourbon caramel, it's just remarkable. You can brush it on bacon in the oven and it candies beautifully. You can use it on pancakes and waffles and salted caramel is always been our best seller since we brought it out. But the maple bourbon is climbing the ladder very quickly and people just love it when they try it. We make monkey bread with it. We have used it all kinds of ways at shows to sample it and it's very popular. But like in the morning, we will do a monkey bread at shows where we have electricity. Just biscuits and caramel sauce layered together and baked in a bundt pan

Erin: One of our favorite samples, but consistently most popular, is our Banana Foster which we use our rum caramel for and we saute it with fresh bananas and we serve it just over a little bit of Pound Cake because ice cream tends to be a little tricky at shows but it's just a really simple way to kind of show off something that anybody can do at home. You take it to a party and do it in five minutes. It's super easy and everybody loves it. Super delicious.

VO: As if having amazing samples wasn't enough, Sweet and Saucy has a secret weapon that makes them stick in the minds of the visitors to their Booth. No pun intended.

Jane: We give cars away to little kids and Erin's father-in-law actually makes those and he is 94 years old. And he makes all these cars for us and trucks and some other things and he puts Sweet and Saucy stickers on them. And then we give them away to little kids.

Erin: There’s a little sample, we've got a little gold race car.

Jane: Sometimes there are two and three kids in the family and we give them each a car because you can't just give one of them a car

VO: But what really works for Sweet and Saucy?

Erin: Just being out there honestly, just you know doing a lot of community events. Being where people were and having them come up and go wait I've I've had this before. And not only do you see them but they get to taste what we're talking about. You know, it's it's one thing to walk up and see a product on a shelf somewhere and go that maybe sounds interesting but I don't I don't know maybe that's kind of weird or you know, whatever it is. If you see Hatch Green Chili at a shelf somewhere, you're like green chili and caramel, you know I don’t know about that, but then you taste it you're like wow, that's that's not what I expected and you know, then they might ask, well what can I do with this and we'll give them some different ideas and some suggestions and then they're gonna walk away maybe buying that and a couple of other things that they might not have ever done if they just walked past it on a shelf somewhere.

VO: Make sure your event attendees get something for their sweet tooth and something they didn't expect. Because it Eventeny, we love bringing you a little more than you'd hoped for.
