Aida: My name is Ida Beshah, and I'm from Ethiopia. I'm an artist and my business name is AidaBCreations.com.
VO: Ida uses her unique background and stunning talent to tell her story through truly beautiful artwork.
Aida: I have been painting for as long as I can remember and that's my passion. And the main, the main things that I paint are women because it's a reflection of myself and the women who are around me. And I paint abstract paintings and I'm a self-taught artist. So I use acrylic painting. And what I do is I would paint and then I draw lines on most of my paintings to create like a 3D dimension. Sometimes I use like a marker to give it that gold highlight. But my main, you can distinguish my art by looking at the lines that I use to give like a different effect on my art pieces. It all comes from what I feel at the moment. And so as I paint, I'm painting my soul. I'm painting everything my emotions. So using acrylic helps me go through it and finish my art pieces. So one of the other art pieces that is my favorite, there are actually two pieces that I painted was when I had my daughter. So when I had my daughter as a single mom, it was difficult and I did not know how to be a mom, it was difficult. So I was just you know, I was being a mother. And then at the same time, I had to paint, you know, and one of the pieces says remember me on her forehead, meaning that remember me as a human being. You forget yourself when you are a mom. I completely just gave my all to my daughter because she was so important to me. And then you forget who used to be before you had your child. Because all that goes away. For me it did because she was very important in my focus on her. So as I was focusing on that, I just forgot my life, what I used to do and focused on her. And so that was, that's, that's the story that I have behind that piece.
VO: Ida has also started branching out, moving beyond the canvas to share her work
Aida: t-shirts and bags. So t-shirts, bags and prints, prints are also, you know, a painting. But I started my t-shirts and bags over a year and a half, almost two years ago. So just instead of just having my pieces on canvas, I decided to have it on a t-shirt, which is also another canvas. It's like wearing my art on a t-shirts is like, you know, you walking around, you know, with my art. And I love that. And I love to see a lot of people holding my bags, my jute bags with my art piece on.
VO: But the most rewarding part of sharing her story through art doesn't come from within.
Aida: I feel fulfilled when I see others loving my art pieces, when I see others purchasing it,even though I have a hard time with separating myself from some of my pieces because it is so personal to me. But at the same time, when I see others loving it, it humbles me so much. That means I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
VO: The best way to see those great reactions is at events which Aida loves, for a lot of reasons.
Aida: Talking to people and explaining in detail. When I did this piece, this is how I felt. And then people taking it all in and feeling comfortable to be vulnerable and explaining, you know, this is the reason why I made this piece. This is how I felt at that moment that brings me happiness. Being involved in art shows one and also being in a platform of Instagram, which was quite new to me, but it's been very successful, you know, advertising, learning new techniques here and there. My website also has been successful.
VO: We love vibrant, unique voices at Eventeny. But even more than that,we love sharing those voices with you.
